From the moment I first met Ameera I knew this girl was going places. I’ve known Ameera for a few years now and over time she’s proven to be truly a strong, independent and level-headed individual. She’s just finishing up her law degree and I just know that with her ambition, she is going to be extremely successful! (insha’Allah)

A few days back we got together to do Ameera’s portraits.   It was a beautiful evening and I think all of Ottawa was out enjoying the weather and having a great time (I think it was the first Friday of this spring season where the weather was very ’spring’ like).  I wanted to take advantage of the gorgeous light at sunset so we headed over to the Locks in downtown. After spending about 30 minutes looking for parking we finally made it to the spot and started shooting. 5 minutes into the shoot and it starts to pour..!! It was only raining within a 4 meter radius around us and we happened to be smack dab in the middle of the cloud!!  It was the funniest thing ever!  It almost seemed like we were jinxed and luck was not on our side that day…so we ran over to the Chateau Laurier and figured we might as well take advantage of this opportunity of being in such a beautiful building…we spent the next 15-20 minutes shooting inside the lobby of the Chateau Laurier and got some amazing shots.   By the time we came back out, that ‘cloud’ was gone and we went back to our spot to continue our shoot…..and then there was no stopping us!

Ameera has the most gorgeous smile and her amazing personality just shines through her eyes! Photographing her was so super easy because she is such a natural in front of the camera.  We kept bouncing ideas off each other and shot until we were both exhausted!  We then walked over to Milestones and enjoyed an amazing dinner! Thanks Ameera for an amazing evening and the lovely dinner! I totally enjoyed our portrait session.

So below you will find a preview of what we got to experience that evening…I will be posting the others as I edit them…I just couldn’t wait to share these amazing shots with you guys! Isn’t Ameera just drop-dead gorgeous??? 

Lately I’ve been feeling super blessed and super lucky to have such awesome friends and family- everyone has been so supportive of my photography and has promoted my work in one way or another. By using my pictures as their display pictures on Facebook! by sending out an email to everyone they know about my work or just by giving out my website and business cards..You rock!!!

A few days back I received an email from a friend in Toronto saying how she heard about my photography and my work on the radio.  She said:

“…you know what…I woke up this morning to 680 news and I heard about your photography on it..they were like “visit amnahakim.com” I was like..hmmm amna hakim…sounds familiar…I’m so happy and proud of you…”

How amazing is that!!!! I have no clue how I ended up on the radio in Toronto..but Thank you to whoever was behind this! and thank you Sofia for letting me know about this!!!

Today I was on a forum and was just surfing around when I came across a post that a friend of mine had made.  I was completely blown away by her sincerity and honesty of words about my work…. thanks Sana for being an awesome friend and an awesome person! muaah!  So I did what I had to..I took a screen capture of the post and am now blogging about it. hehe

I want all of you to know how much I appreciate your support! I have met most of my past and current clients through referrals…so just know that I appreciate each one of you who has ever promoted my work. Your support means the world to me.

and that is why I say….where would I be without the support of my friends & family?  a cupcake for you…. (take your pick..hehe)

I had the pleasure of dining at Fresco - the experience and the food was just fantastic! The restaurant is very tastefully decorated and the ambiance was just wonderful!
